Hinatara

There are 3 species in the genus Hinatara primarily in the palaearctic region. In Britain they are represented by the single species Hinatara recta, first detected in the country in 2023.

The genus Hinatara can be characterised as follows. By virtue of the simple tarsal claws in combination with the postgenal carina developed in the lower half, as well as the lateral apical processes of the sawsheath, the genus Hinatara is clearly distinguished from the other genera of Fenusinae.

The larvae live in blotch mines in Norway Maple (Hinatara recta), Field Maple (Hinatara recta) and Sycamore (Hinatara excisa).
