Benson (1958) included a species Amauronematus fallax which he considered to be local in England and much commoner in Scotland. There is now a good deal of uncertainty as to which current taxon records of A. fallax should be assigned but following Liston et al. (2012) and discussions with M. Prous, all former records of A. fallax are now tentatively assigned to Euura striata. Former suggestions that these involved Euura stenogaster are currently considered incorrect. (It should be noted that Euura fallax is not closely related, being the name now used for the former Pachynematus xanthocarpus and related taxa). The only confirmed record to date relates to six females caught at Meall nan Tarmachen (Perthshire) in June 2010 (Liston et al. 2012, where referred to as Amauronematus mimus) (Musgrove, 2024). The former Amauronematus mimus (=Euura mimator Schmidt,2014) is now considered conspecific with striata.
Euura striata larvae feed on Creeping Willow.
Size: Female: 7.4 - 8.9mm, male: 6.9 - 7.8mm.
