Euura plicalapponum - Downy Leaf-galler

Phyllocolpa plicalapponum Kopelke, 2007

A recently described species. Three were caught on single date at Meall nan Tarmachen in Perthshire in 2010 (Liston et al. 2012). Likely to be overlooked, although the foodplant is threatened by grazing and occurs only in limited pockets (Musgrove, 2024).

Euura plicalapponum larvae feed on Downy Willow which is an upland species. The larvae cause a leaf fold, either spirally twisted or a marginal fold.
